Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (often referred to as CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses primarily on the here and now, and helps people develop strategies to address the problems that arise in day to day life.

By exploring how thoughts influence feelings, physical reactions, and behaviours, CBT teaches people how to shift their negative automatic thoughts to positively influence their feelings, physical reactions and behaviours.

CBT is a structured and short-term therapy (usually 6-20 sessions) that teaches practical skills and focuses on goal attainment and problem-solving.
